The Chrysler Group, which consists of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM and Fiat models, might be one of the largest car manufacturers in the world but its still impressive that 11 of their 2012 model year cars were named Top Safety Picks by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 11 models. Out of the roughly 19 or so that fall under the Chrysler Group that’s quite impressive.
The 11 models that were named Top Safety Picks were – the Chrysler Town & Country, 300 and 200; Dodge Grand Caravan, Durango, Charger, Journey, and Avenger; Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot, and Fiat 500. To earn the Top Safety pick vehicles must earn the highest rating possible of “Good” in front, side, and rear crash tests as well as the roof strength test. Vehicles must also be equipped with standard Electronic Stability Control.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the Dodge Avenger and Journey have made the list.
