Completely new for 2014, the Jeep Cherokee is a display of what modern engineering can accomplish. While it has the exterior dimensions and fuel economy of a compact car, it has the off-road capabilities and handling of a trail-rated SUV! Another incredible feature of this exciting new vehicle is the sound-deadening body sealer that is uses for a comfortable and enjoyable ride on or off the paved road.
Chrysler saw fit to go with a green alternative to the normal foam sound deadening material and has seen several benefits to using the new material. Not only is the new, soy-based foam just as effective at blocking unwanted noises from entering the cabin, it is also lighter and better for the environment. Since the foam is lower in density than the normal sound-deadening material, it saves approximately 1.5 lbs per vehicle. While this may not sound like much, it is the combination of small changes that makes the new Cherokee capable of returning around 35 MPG without sacrificing performance!
The new soy-based foam is applied to 10 locations throughout the vehicle, including the A-pillars, B-pillars, rear wheel-wells, and more. For more information about the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee or to see one when they become available later this year, stop by Cumberland Chrysler in Cookeville, TN.
