There was nothing funny about Matt Hagan’s victory at the all-Mopar Funny Car final as he crossed the finish line in his Don Schumacher Racing Dodge Charger R/T, causing the four win lights to shine brightly. But we at Cumberland Chrysler Center are pretty certain Hagan would tell you it sure was fun.
Hagan’s win gave him a 36-point lead heading into the last two events of the Countdown to the Championship series.
“Congratulations to Matt Hagan from everyone at Mopar on another big win and the points lead in the Countdown,” said Pietro Gorlier, Mopar president and CEO. Mopar is Chrysler Group’s brand for service, parts, and customer-care. “What a great way to show everyone that the 50 year legacy of the HEMI continues to live on by winning playoff races and making Mopar a serious contender for this year’s NHRA championship once again.”
The Mopar team is now turning their attention to the next event in Las Vegas on Oct. 30 – Nov. 2. We’re hoping it turns out to be another fun weekend for Hagan and the rest of the team.
