Sales have been booming for many of Chrysler’s vehicles, especially the vehicles equipped with the eight-speed automatic transmission. With this sales increase, Chrysler is investing an additional $266 million in its Kokomo Transmission Plant so it can produce even more of the fuel-efficient TorqueFlite transmissions.

The eight-speed transmission has been in production since September 2012 and the Kokomo facility produced nearly 700,000 through the first 11 months of 2014. Vehicles equipped with the eight-speed transmission include the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenge, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, and Ram 1500.

“Since the launch of the eight-speed, employees at Kokomo Transmission have been working practically round the clock to produce this advanced, fuel-efficient transmission,” said Brad Clark, Head of Powertrain Manufacturing Operations, FCA – North America, in a statement. “We are pleased that vehicles equipped with this transmission have been so well received by consumers. This investment will give us the additional capacity we need to make it available across even more vehicles in our product line.”

With further investments in the eight-speed transmission, the Chrysler lineup is becoming more and more fuel-efficient. Stop by Cumberland Chrysler Center today and see which gas-saving eight-speed transmission equipped Chrysler is right for you.
