The annual Overton County Relay for Life race will take place in nearby Livingston on Saturday, August 8, starting at 5 PM and lasting until 12 AM. The race will take place at Livingston Academy High School.
Relay for Life is a national event that celebrates survivors of cancer and raises money to donate to cancer research and education. Relay for Life is a great opportunity for members of a community to come together and have fun, get exercise, and camp out with their neighbors. The event is actually less of a race and more of a walk, as there isn’t a race length requirement and participants are not trying to beat each other.
Here’s how the event works: since the walk is overnight, when you arrive at the relay you set up camp on the side of the track and sign in, and then you spend the next six hours trading off with your partners so that one of you is walking the track the entire time.
Relay for Life is one of the most important yearly events in any community, so we hope to see you there!
