Chrysler Group Takes Nine Awards at 24th Annual Texas Truck Rodeo

Texas Truck Rodeo

Everything isn’t just bigger in Texas—it also looks like everything is Chrysler in Texas, too. The American carmaker recently received nine awards at the 24th annual Texas Truck Rodeo for a variety of its vehicles, showing that when it comes to choosing its next vehicle, Texas chooses Chrysler.

The Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), which runs the Rodeo and chooses the award recipients, voted after a two-day competition involving both on-road and off-road evaluations that test design, utility, value, and technology. In the end, Chrysler won in every group it was entered in, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee being named the “SUV of Texas” for the fifth year in a row and many other Chrysler vehicles being recognized.

“We are extremely delighted and proud that for the fifth consecutive year, the respected and influential Texas auto writers have named the Jeep Grand Cherokee the SUV of Texas,” said Mike Manley President and CEO of Chrysler’s Jeep Brand. “Even more impressive is the fact that Jeep vehicles won every single category in which they were entered, and we recognized for their unmatched 4×4 capability, fuel economy, luxury, and overall performance.”

Five Different Chrysler Vehicles Take Home Awards from Edmunds.com

Ram 1500The Chrysler brand is a symbol of American excellence for a reason. And that reason was just validated once again by Edmunds.com, which gave out awards to five different Chrysler vehicles recently. Both the Ram 1500 and 2500 were named “Top Rated Vehicles,” while the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Dodge Grand Caravan were each named “2014 Most Popular on Edmunds.com” in their respective segments.

“Chrysler Group is very proud to accept these awards from Edmunds.com,” said Doug Betts, Head of Quality for Fiat S.p.A. and Chrysler Group LLC. “The men and women at Chrysler work very hard to create the best vehicles on the market today, and every award received is proof that we are succeeding.”

While this is the first year that Edmunds.com has given out the Top Rated Vehicle awards, it comes as no surprise to us here at Cumberland Chrysler that the Ram 1500 and 2500 both earned the distinction. In fact, we expect to see many more Top Rated Vehicle awards added to the Chrysler lineup in the coming years. You can help! Jeep Goes Crazy with Six New Concepts for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari

Jeeps Easter Safari ConceptsEach year, Jeep brings a number of custom concept vehicles to the annual Easter Jeep Safari event in Moab, UT. This event is known for the large number of off-road and Jeep enthusiasts who attend to enjoy the popular and engaging trails of the area.

This year, Mopar and Jeep have put together six unique vehicles to display how theJeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Wrangler and Grand Cherokee can be customized. In attendance at the event, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk shows how the new EcoDiesel V-6 engine can be applied in off-road situations. With custom paint, larger wheel arches, modified SRT bumpers, an SRT hood, custom skid plates, rear tow hooks, and more, this concept is the most intense Jeep GC yet.

Jeep Wrangler Slim          Jeep Wrangler Stitch

The Jeep Wrangler Slim and Jeep Wrangler Stitch explore whole new levels of weight reduction in order to achieve maximum off-road performance. 17-inch forged beadlock style wheels from Jeep Performance Parts, lightweight front and rear bumpers, lightweight rock-rails all help the Slim model to shave precious pounds. The Stitch model has been cut to a final weight of 3,000 lbs through the extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials. The doors, rear seats, audio, heating and A/C, and sections of the body have all been removed in the search for ultimate weight reduction.

Rather than cutting weight, the Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper II and the Jeep Wrangler Mopar Recon achieve performance through the use of larger engines and performance upgrades. The Sand Trooper uses a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 producing 375 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Extra ground clearance and a custom paint job give this model a menacing stance that means business. The Mopar Recon model steps it up one more notch, making use of the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 crate engine from Mopar that cranks out an impressive 470 hp.
